Girls are facing increasing amounts of pressure today- pressure to look a certain way, to act a certain way, to get the best grades, and they often struggle to deal with intense social pressures. And we see the impact of this especially in schools with broken friendships, heightened gossiping and bullying with the increase of social media, girls who have a meltdown over an A-, and with the increase in both cutting and eating disorders of our teen girls.
Many schools and teachers are so committed to their students that they go above and beyond to try and meet both the academic and emotional needs of struggling teens, yet they can feel overwhelmed, under-qualified, and at a loss of how to best support teen girls who are struggling with body image, self harm, sexting, and navigating all of the intense social pressures they face.
That's why I partner with schools to teach teen girls the tools they need to navigate the pressures, stressors, and emotional ups and downs of being a teen so that they can do well in school, create positive peer relationships, release unhealthy thinking or habits, and realize their full potential so that both teens and schools can get the support that they need.
Are you a teen, parent, or staff member at a middle school or high school? Do you think your school and the female students would benefit from a workshop in which girls learn the tools they need to foster positive self esteem and healthy relationships?

Free Parent Info SessionsAs a middle school teacher, I noticed more and more how it can be incredibly hard to parent teen girls in this day and age. Not only are there very few manuals on how to navigate the appropriate use of social media (if any), but girls are struggling with different issues than parents might have been navigating as they were growing up. Even the best parents can be at a loss at times on how to best help their teen daughter.
That is why I lead free parent information sessions for PTO's on how to best help their daughters navigate the tough social pressures they are facing. I lead free two hour parent information sessions on the following topics: -Helping my daughter develop positive self esteem -Helping my daughter navigate the confusing world of social media appropriately -How to foster and develop open communication with my daughter -Helping my daughter manage the meltdowns -Helping my daughter create healthy, positive relationships |
What are students saying?
“It helped girls and myself learn that we don’t need to be ‘perfect’ to be pretty because we are all equal to one another…. I hope other girls will feel the way I felt from this past week.”
“I think you are a very amazing and inspirational person Shandra! I think you’re great at what you do, and I’m glad I got the chance to work with you.”
“I would [recommend this to other schools] because I think it could really make a positive impact on all the women out there and they will start seeing themselves in a more positive way. I think it could really make a change in society.”
“Yes I would [recommend this to other schools] because I think that it can help other girls feel better about themselves, keeping them out of depression or harm in general.”
