HOW I CAN HELP

The teenage years are tough. Teens are grappling with social stressors, questions around identity, pressure in school and to achieve, and an increasing desire to both fit in and stand out. Now stack that on top of the pressures of social media and navigating school during a pandemic. It’s no wonder so many teens are struggling right now.
In fact, in 2021, more than a third (37%) of high school students reported they experienced poor mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, and 44% reported they persistently felt sad or hopeless during the past year.
And that’s what I’m constantly seeing. Teenagers are more stressed out, more anxious and depressed, harder on themselves, struggling with self-esteem, and both acting out and acting in at higher levels than before.
Which is stressful for any caregiver to watch. You have probably seen your kid struggle, and have desperately wanted to help them make things better or fix it all, but your teen still seems stuck. Maybe they’ve pulled away from you, get angry when you try to give advice or help, or they do listen but then continue feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
That’s where I come in. I’m here to be a trusted adult, mentor, and coach for your teen. I give teens a safe space to share honestly about the stressors in their life, so they don’t have to try and manage them on their own anymore. I help teens develop mindfulness and self-awareness so that they can better understand their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that arise when they are triggered, so they can make empowered choices in their lives moving forward. I support teens in building resilience and trust that they will make it through hardship. I help teens connect to their inner wisdom and knowing, so they don’t feel as bogged down by the influence of social media or their peers. I help teens realize just how amazing they are and foster a foundation of self-compassion and confidence that gets to last them throughout their lives.
I use a combination of educational, coaching, and therapeutic interventions—including but not limited to mindfulness, communication best practices, emotional and physiological regulation and trauma skills, and self-compassion— and my 14+ years of working with teens as a coach and former teacher to help your teen thrive through their teenage years.
It’s nice to know my background, but I think the best way to know what this type of work is like is to experience talking to me. So try it out, and see what you think.
